Covid-19: Our Response

These are crazy times we are living in and for many very fearful...

I hope you and yours are keeping safe and following all guidelines set out by our government.

Beauty For Ashes Counselling is now operating as normal with face to face sessions. The counselling space is sanitised before and after each client, and hand sanitisers are available to be used before and after each session.

If you or any of your family are unwell or have symptoms of the virus we ask you don’t attend.  Understandably some may not wish to attend in person - please feel free to ask about telephone or online therapy which is also being made available at this time.

Online sessions are available for clients who would prefer not to meet face to face, and this is done via Zoom (please do not hesitate to ask for further details).

Most importantly stay safe, stay healthy and do what you feel is right for you and your family! Continue to do whatever you can to stay connected to those around you

The story behind the name...

"The flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all" - Mulan

Beauty For Ashes was birthed from my own personal journey of suffering.  As Dieter Utchdorf said "as I look over my own life, it is apparent that many times of great growth have come to me while passing through stormy seasons."

As the name implies there is an exchange - we receive beauty in exchange for the ashes of our suffering.  Many of us have experienced challenging times and we have been wounded as a result.  To find the beauty; often we must first be willing to journey through the difficulties and pain we feel.  Doing this can enable us to discover more of who we are and walk into the change we want to see for our lives.

At Beauty For Ashes Counselling we believe there is hope for healing; that you can work through even the most painful difficulties and improve your overall wellbeing.  We believe that beauty is often discovered through our ability to be vulnerable.  In that place true healing is often found.

The Therapist

I work as a private therapist, offering a warm and non-judgemental approach to counselling. My experience of over 11 years working in the addiction field has led me to understand that addictions are often the symptom of deeper, underlying issues. As a result I have vast experience of working with clients on an array of difficulties including anxiety, trauma, depression, low self worth, mental health struggles and many more.

I am based in the Dunmurry area, situated between Lisburn and Belfast.

I am a fully accredited member of BACP and all of my practice is informed by their Ethical Framework of Good Practice for counsellors (www.bacp.co.uk)

I look forward to connecting with you so we can further discuss how we can work together for the change you are looking for.

Our Therapy

What is counselling?

What is counselling?

What is counselling?

At times we can face situations that can feel impossible. Counselling offers a safe, confidential space with a trained professional to explore difficulties, past or present, and begin your journey to healing.

Counselling allows you to reflect on your experiences which can give you deeper insight into how you are feeling and help you find ways to express this in order to better understand yourself and help you work towards the change you are looking for.

Our Approach

What is counselling?

At the heart of the work is a focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship that creates trust and respect so problems can be explored in an open, non-judgemental way.

We work in an integrative way, drawing on different counselling approaches based on your needs as a client and may include person centred, psychodynamic, solution focused approaches and sandplay therapy.
